it's all coming up roses for local flower shop
wallflower florists
Opened in the spring of 1972, Wallflower Florists has been a community staple in their home burgh of Queens ever since. Married couple Marie and Danny Murray opened the shop to tepid reception, but what they lack in advertising they more than make up for in dedication to their community and patrons. Since 1986 Wallflower Florists has been an active member in the community, donating to the local YMCA and volunteering their shop for various fundraisers for the local schools and youth programs.
In the fall of 1998 their first and only child, a girl named Beatrice Lynn, was born. This saw a reduction in their hours, but didn't affect the business much otherwise. Beatrice became a shop staple as she grew up, helping patrons and her parents both however she could. She was part of many of the local organizations her parents donated to including the local charter of the Girl Scouts, YMCA, and their church. She became a youth leader in her teens, but has not been an active member in the church since she graduated out of the youth classes. She left New York to go to Chicago University for a degree in Classical Literature.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Chicago University, Beatrice took over Wallflower Florists last year in 2019 from her parents who retired upstate. Beatrice, unlike her parents, is much more active in the advertising for the shop, integrating social media and local radio ads into the budget. The business has kept an even keel since she assumed management, but its ultimate course remains to be seen without the two founding members behind the scenes, keeping things running smoothly.
