The power of the gods have always been in human hands. Millennia ago, they called them prophets, blessed by the gods. Centuries ago, they called them witches and monsters, throwing them upon fires. Now? Some call it science, some call it the devil's work. We call it Asterium.

However, this power doesn't hold one form. Some are born with a higher concentration, developing powers beyond anyone's imagination, powers that they must keep control over lest it cause chaos. Others have learned to harness it, whether their ancestors had rituals or they learned from the old tomes, asterium, the power of the stars, have chosen their champions, and in the place where the ley lines connect, New York City stands, a home to all types of creatures.

In the legends, Castor was the child of a god, but a mortal one. For all he could do, the powers he had were stolen, taken from the immortality of his brother. Castor type creatures are those who harness the existing asterium, bringing it forth through different methods. Witches, fae, and other mythological beasts are good examples of Castors.
Pollux was the divine one, the immortal. He gave up half his immortality to his brother, and those named after him are no different. They're born with the power in their veins. The divine ones–gods, angels, demons–as well as humans with the gift are all examples of Polluxes; they must learn to control their powers lest they cause destruction to the world.
The mundane. They are your everyday humans, those born without the knowledge of the other side. While they may be simple, and lead everyday lives, there are some who have experienced the power of Asterium. There are scientists trying to harness it for their own purposes, as well as hunters, who see it as a threat. Beware the humans, some of them bite.
We are an intermediate RPG site focused on the supernatural. While not linked directly to any specific fandom, we take inspiration from whatever is available. It's an open sandbox for your characters in the bustling city of New York. Almost any species/power should fit into the categories, though the only difference is how one gains and controls their power.

While there aren't many guidelines to characters, we want to remind users that characters should not be invincible. We have a beastiary available HERE and we hope we've included everything you're looking for!

We're open to new ideas and we'd absolutely love for you to join us! Below, we have some information that might help with your character creation. Once you're done reading through all the pages, feel free to find the species/group you'd like to join and their respective joining thread. After you fill in the joining thread, you can create your own character thread here and begin writing!

New York City is home to around 8.4 million people. The five boroughs–Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, the city is also a gateway for immigrants into the states. It's busy, it's expensive, it's lively, it's everything a city is, and this city never stops.

The population is a mix of many races and ethnicities. According to the census, the racial composition is 42% white, 24% black or African American, 15% other races, and 12% Asian. Approximately 37% of the city are foreign born. New York is also one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly cities in the United States. We want to encourage our users to reflect that composition within our site.

While the Asterium levels in New York are higher than most places, those with its abilities or the knowledge to harness it makes up less than 0.1% of the population. After all, the age of burning witches may be over, but from the looks of it, it'll take centuries for humans to accept the fact that they might not be so powerful after all.

While we accept all ages on our site, there are some basic guidelines. Of course, we have rules against inappropriate content regarding minors. We understand that teenagers have their fun too, but please refrain from roleplaying said content on the site. A simple timeskip will do.

The median age of the city is 34 years old. Most of the city's residents are between the ages of 25 to 54. However, don't let that stop you! Feel free to create your characters however young (or old) you'd like! After all, angels and demons can't quite reveal how old they really are, lest they scare off all the humans around them.

While the world has progressed since the middle ages, not all things have changed. It's been centuries since the burning of witches, but don't let your guard down. Things haven't all changed.

Most creatures avoid using their powers in front of others, not only due to fear of the mob, but of hunters as well. There are people out there who are curious, who would easily capture any known mutant or witch and throw them in a lab cell to run tests on them. Not only that, hunters exist too, those who have been caught in the crossfire of a turned vampire or a mutant's power gone wrong, and who want revenge, or to keep their fellow humans safe.

Most of society still haven't realized that the monsters under their beds are real. It's better to keep it that way.

EVOLUTION IS INEVITABLE. The Enlightened believe that Asterium is the key to humanity's survival. After all, the mysterious element gave the gods their powers and humans the ability to do things beyond their dreams, why wouldn't it be? This strange element has limitless potential, and the Enlightened will do anything to learn more. While most are simply working to prepare the humans for the big news–that there are monsters among us–there are some with darker purposes, those who believe that the end justifies their means, kidnapping those with powers to understand this new world. That's not to say that there aren't any Castors and Polluxes in the Enlightened camp; after all, many with the power would give their right hand to learn how to truly control and maximise their strength.

WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY. Not everyone believes in the human race. After all, as much as they've done great things, evil is always just around the corner, and the resistance knows it. They're a mix of everything–enlightened humans, Castors and Polluxes alike, with a singular goal, to keep Asterium away from human hands, and to limit those with the ability to harness it, to make sure anyone with its gift is worthy enough to keep the peace. These are often the radicals, those who see hunters trying to eradicate their people and hunt them down. They're the ones sabotaging laboratories who experiment on whatever bit of Asterium they can get. They're the ones who believe that the less they–the humans–know, the better. They wish to remain separate, to keep things the way they are now, rather than preparing the human race for the eventual discovery of Asterium and its properties.

Currently, we are open to all joiners!

To join us, simply reply to the joining threads! They usually give a format that they'd prefer, however, there are general things that we require per character.

We will require a few things:

NAME OF CHARACTER

USERNAME:
AGE AND GROUP
This usually depends on the leader of the group. While age is usually needed on the page, some species require different groups or details. It's just easier for us to read on the get go!

DESCRIPTION:
Tell us about your character! Please include a brief description of their past, and tell us about their personality! It doesn't need to be super long, but it's good to have somewhere to start!
FACECLAIM:
An image for your character! We do not accept drawings, dolls, or faceclaims that are not realistic. We also prefer that you give us a name of the person as well; trust me, it'll make things easier for you in the future! However, if you can't find the name of the faceclaim, just let us know! We're always happy to go faceclaim-hunting!
ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE:
Usually, these are reserved for roleplay positions and plot based positions; they might require extra details and it's always nice to see how the characters vibe with each other!
We're a pretty chill community, and we're always open to suggestions and new ideas, but we also have a few rules here and there, just to keep things running smoothly. Please follow them, and if you're confused about something, don't hesitate to ask! We're here to help out! However, if you are found breaking the rules constantly, we will be giving out warnings. Simply stay within reason, and everything should be fine!

RULE ONE • RESPECT

We expect all of our members to try and get along with one another. If you have a problem with someone or something they did, please message them privately first, or address the issue with a staff member and we'll try to sort it out. We want to be civil; if you must debate something, please be aware that we expect the utmost respect from our members. We do not tolerate hate speech, slurs, and any 'devil's advocate' conversations about people's identity, race, other sensitive topics will be shut down immediately. We get that sometimes drama starts, but we'd like to ask our members to be civil and mature. We do not tolerate attempts to start unnecessary drama. If you have any problems, you can also ask the staff! We're always here to help.

RULE TWO • PLAGIARISM

I shouldn't even need to be saying this, but stealing ideas, concepts, and graphics is not cool. If any of our members are found stealing from other sites without due credit, you'll be getting a warning. While I understand everyone is influenced by other people's styles and what they see online, blatant stealing is a big no no here.

RULE THREE • ROLEPLAY ETIQUETTE

We expect roleplays to be at least somewhat realistic. Your character can't get into a fight and come out completely unscathed. Your character can't kill 20 soldiers in one go. Please also respect others enough to make sure your character doesn't create a permanent injury without permission. We also reserve the right to ask users to make adjustments to characters if they seem inappropriate, or overpowered. Please remember to read up on the different character guides around the site!

RULE FOUR • CONTENT

While this is generally aimed towards older audiences, please keep in mind we may have younger members as well. We expect all users to be over the age of 16. Please label your posts with the appropriate warnings when posting, and again, respect one another. If someone is uncomfortable playing out certain scenes, skip it. If it's something extremely graphic/covers a sensitive topic/and might require a trigger warning, please put it at the top of the thread. We understand that your threads are for you, but other people do read them, so keep it classy and use warnings, lads. Pedophilia, especially sex scenes involving underage minors, and incest is not allowed on this site.

RULE FIVE • SPAMMING / ADVERTISING

Please keep advertising to a minimum and in the right location, and please to not spam/heckle/harrass other members, whether for posts/plots, to join your site, or to plot/roleplay something they're uncomfortable with. Feel free to tell us about your sites, and feel free to talk to people about it, but don't make it your only purpose here. It's rude and it's honestly quite disrespectful.

RULE SIX • POSITIONS

While there are admin/moderator positions on the site, we'd like to think that everyone plays a part here. Admins aren't excused from the rules, and as a general rule, we want to make all the decisions together, rather than just having a couple of us make final rules all the time. However, roleplay positions are given to those the leaders find appropriate. We want active participants and those who feel like a good fit. Please don't beg for positions and don't give people attitude if you don't get what you want.
