Despite his prickly personality, Lorcan had a penchant for keeping his fellow soldier's spirits high even as they sweltered in the blistering heat of the middle east, killing and getting killed. Something about his no-nonsense way of looking at things and his straight-shooting assessments made his men put a lot of trust into him, and his superior officers recognize that skill.
What went in to the military as a twig-thin boy came out an athletic, strong man with endurance and the ability to put up with pretty much any circumstances life could throw at him. His ability to adapt and overcome was put to the ultimate test when he was savaged during a night raid. After breaking down the door and rushing in, he was blindsided and taken to the ground by a massive wolf, his right arm almost getting ripped off. No one could understand why such a creature was in the barren desert town they'd attacked, but regardless it put Lorcan out of commission for a month while his arm healed back up. In the interim he met Maddox, a commissioned officer that he'd only seen in passing, and metaphorically ripped the bandage off in one fell swoop, explaining what had happened and what he would become on the next full moon. This knowledge shocked Lorcan, though his ability to see the truth helped him to accept it more quickly than another might have.
After his first shift, Lorcan stuck close to Maddox and was eventually promoted to Sargent Major under Maddox. Lorcan's brute strength and Maddox's tactical brilliance made the team a clear choice for their most sensitive missions, and between the two of them they had an almost 95% success rate. By the time they were discharged, Lorcan saw Maddox as an older brother and mentor, and readily accepted the position of Beta upon returning to NYC.
He has a tendency to punch first and ask questions later, and will kill to protect his pack, but also has a soft core when it comes to the pups in the pack. After he got back from his tours overseas, he had a bit of a breakdown, unable to justify his actions when he realized their mission in the Middle East was based on lies. For a time he was in a dark place, the guilt and horror of the lives he took eating him alive. It wasn't until Maddox gave him a position and a reason to live that he came back out into the world.
Working as the head Park Warden at the pack's Van Cortlandt Park puts him away from people and in touch with nature, making it easier to cope when sudden memories from the war spark. He enjoys spending his time at work educating the kids that come to his wildlife classes, both pack and human. Those that know him often have trouble reconciling the gentle, patient teacher that comes out when acting as a warden with the vicious killer that he becomes when the need arises.
As Beta of the pack, he spends much of his time with the pack hunting down and killing Hunters that would wipe them off of the planet, ensuring his pack's safety and survival. He lives in a historical house in Harlem the government helped him get as part of their effort to rehabilitate veterans on their return, but spends most of his time at the large lodge in the park instead.

[attr="class","magtype"]BETA WOLF OF THE PACK
What do you get when you throw a kid with a shitty childhood, a hair-trigger temper, and a penchant for violence into the military at 18? Well, surprisingly you get Lorcan Bellamy, a former Sargent Major in the US Marines. There's a lot that had to happen between enlisting and moving up so high in the military, but if he's honest Lorcan would just admit that it mostly just consisted of him getting his ass whooped enough times he learned to keep his mouth shut and temper in check.

He felt a shiver run down his spine as he pulled his hoodie closer to his face. It had been an accident, okay?! The blonde-haired teen had been at a local basketball court, shooting hoops with some friends, when some assholes from school showed up and tried to push them out. His temper had never been his strong suit and he hadn't been able to suppress his wolf's desire for blood enough to keep from half-shifting. It had only been for a moment, the fear from the realization shocking him out of it quickly enough, but he couldn't help the fear he felt as he quickly walked towards the park, needing to admit what he'd done to Lorcan or Maddox before it got back to them through someone else.
He turned a corner and bumped into someone, careening off of them and into the wall. It wasn't too hard, but he'd been so concerned with keeping his head down that he hadn't seen them coming. "Watch it, kid!" the guy yelled, and with a mumbled apology, he obliged. There were fewer people going down a back ally behind some houses, and feeling his wolf rile at the number of people on the street he veered down the backstreet instead. God, he was in so much trouble when he got back but at least he'd be alive. His mother had been adamant that he never reveal his form anywhere but the park, and now look at what he'd done!
