A city that never sleeps
The world isn't as it seems, and New Yorkers certainly know that well. While the element Asterium is not widely understood, those in the city's underground know better. For millenia, humans have known of this energy. They called those born with it in their bones changelings and mutants. Legends have told of werewolves and vampires for centuries. Those who can harness it became witches and warlocks. All they know now is that some things are better kept secret, and where else can you hide a secret better than New York City?

He chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm a gracious master," he teased, as he sauntered behind her, hands in his pockets as if he didn't have any other worry in the world. After all, she'd know when he demanded her presence, and well, having a human to do his bidding made things easier. After all, those blasted witches and angels often put spells on things so that only humans could work with them. This made things easier, after all. Perhaps he'd get her to go through some blessed tomes and find a solution to his own problem.
Her question brought him back to the present. "Well, if you know where to find them, they're not too difficult to track down," he hummed. He had no qualms with other demons, but their social status had always left them on their own. Demons turned on one another if they could get ahead after all, and since they were nearly impossible to kill, anything Lucy did would simply send them back to hell and force them to start anew.
"If you can find a vent, you'll find one or the other quite easily; easiest place to start? Hell's Kitchen."

"I didn't know so many demons wanted to on Gordon Ramsey's show," Lucy mused, turning to glance over at him. "Was that a joke, or does the place of eternal torment have a culinary aspect to it?" Whatever the meaning of his words, they were completely lost on the young socialite.
(sorry this is so short i also am as lost as lucy heh)

The man grinned at her comment. "Nah, that's just where the gaps between our two realities are closest together," he mused, "it's the easiest for our kind to step out into this world. However, where the World Trade Center used to be is another spot you could find a couple of angels around." Demons and Angels worked independently, but that didn't mean there weren't gathering spots around the city.
"Shall we?" he held out an arm for the woman, "Hell's kitchen surprisingly doesn't have the best food but if walking through the crowds leaving from their little broadway shows isn't hell, I don't know what is."

(ok i googled it and its a restaurant LOL i only knew the show)
Lucy extended her arm to loop it through his, walking beside him for the remainder of the trip. "I don't get down there much," she admitted. "I'm just as adverse to grown up theater kids as you are." Musicals rarely kept her attention, and if something didn't keep her attention it bored her to death.
As they neared their destination, she turned to him. "So which one is a demon? How did i know?" She spoke in a low voice, her breath warm against Erik's ear as she asked her question.

(yea AHAH I watched daredevil and i was like wtf is that really a place in the city and turns out it's just what they call like a few streets mid/downtown rip)
Erik chuckled as they continued to walk through the streets. "Usually? The eyes," he mused, "demons can hide their eyes and act human for only so long; more if they're stronger and less so when they're not. If you see someone with dark eyes that seem to flicker in some unnatural way, you just gotta get used to it."
He hummed, before glancing towards a man chatting to some girls outside a bar. "That man over there, see him?"

(damn i am very uneducated in the parts of nyc ajksd)
"I see him," Lucy confirmed, examining the man. There was something strange about his eyes, like Erik had pointed out, and she nodded again. "Okay, I see it. So now, I guess we wait to see where he goes?"
At Erik's confirmation, they moved to blend into the crowd, standing around and chatting like they weren't keeping an eye on the man outside the bar. Finally, the man turned to go, leaving the girls behind. Lucy and Erik trailed him, keeping a safe distance, turning into an alley after him.
"How do I use my powers?" Lucy whispered to him, eager to play with her new toy.

(I honestly search these #dead but also I went to NYC last last summer and it was fucking g r e a t like, I def wanna go back ugh)
He chuckled as he followed along; she was catching on quickly, it seemed. It wouldn't take long for her to learn, and frankly, it was amusing to him. This was all some form of new entertainment to a guy like himself, after all.
"You really need to ask me how to seduce a man?" he mused, "it's not something you turn on and turn off. You're simply more attractive to demons and angels, and they'll inherently see you as trustworthy until you break that façade. It's really playing to your strengths; you do what you usually do to attract a guy like that and see how it goes."
It wasn't anything complex, but people with unique energies often attracted th supernatural; that was nothing new, and he had simply amped up her own existing charisma and charm.

(we should meet up if you come back to the city! since we missed each other in london hehe)
"Alright," Lucy grinned wider- she did know how to seduce a man. Men were easy enough. "Then what- do you want me to kill him? How would I go about doing that?" Her knife worked on witches and mutants, and she had a weapon back home that helped with vampires, but she had never attempted a demon before.

(YEAH I wish after covid I guess cri) "I think it's not exactly my place to teach you how to kill one of us," he chuckled, "you're a hunter, aren't you supposed to figure that out yourself? Don't they....I don't know, give you classes on how to take down a demon when you're looking for one?" Of course it'd be easy enough to teach her how to do so, but he wasn't an idiot. She wasn't a friend per se, more like they both had things they wanted to accomplish and it was more convenient to stay together. As reckless as Erik was, he was no fool. "Let's just say you try out your powers and we can figure that out on the go," he mused, "I'll teach you how to send them back to hell but you'll have to learn the killing on your own I'm afraid." The man was already walking away, turning the corner, unaware of what would be happening to him in the future.

"I'm not exactly the most experienced hunter," Lucy admitted with a laugh. Perhaps there were classes about taking down demons at headquarters, but she was rarely there. "But I'll just give it a go, I guess."
With that, she moved forward, raising a hand to wave down their target. "Hey!" She said brightly and breathlessly when she caught up to him, and she could sense the power working. She could already be charming when she wanted to be, and now it seemed to intensify towards this particular man.
"Where are you going all alone?" Lucy asked, flashing whitened teeth at him. "You should come back with me to this club nearby." The man, caught off guard by her powers and unaware of them, agreed readily, a faintly predatory smile on his features. Lucy walked him back past Erik, shooting him a questioning look about what to do next.

Erik grinned as Lucy began her little mission.
The other demon, completely unaware of the gift she had, seemed smitten with her. The girl just smelled so delicious, the demon thought, before smiling at Lucy. She'd make a delicious meal really, and corrupting people was always a demon's favorite activity. "Which club are you heading to?" he spoke, his pupils wide, as if hanging on to her every word.
Erik simply shrugged, the smile still on his face. He wanted to see what she'd try first. It was always fun trying to gauge what a human would do when suddenly given new power.
