" i take pride in the inevitability of the force i harness. "
lorelei kim
korean • fae • nineteen
lorelei’s exact blend of fae blood consists of many different types, though those most apparent and present in her bloodline are:
the blood of slaugh
the blood of banshee
the blood of hag
the blood of siren
the blood of banshee
the blood of hag
the blood of siren
this fine mixture of blood causes her abilities to weave into eachother and combine to cause new types of abilities unique to her.
lorelei was raised extremely spoiled, so she often feels entitled to things.. and out in the real world that obviously does not get you very far. when she does not get what she wants she usually gets extremely angry. lorelei is also extremely sassy, and often her remarks are seen as funny and over dramatic, her tongue can get extremely slick when she needs it to. she doesn’t have a filter and will say whatever it takes to make you hurt and not bat an eye. the girl also tends to be quite flirtatious, though behind her enticing statements there isn’t much true emotion. deep beneath this facade of malevolent antics is a girl who’s still very invested in the arts. she has a fascinating voice, and she’s extremely good at dancing. lorelei often goes to see plays on broadway whenever she has the time, and on occasion she enjoys going to bars and singing just for a little extra cash, even though she’s already wealthy.
rocky. that was what you could call it. troublesome lorelei kim had a very rocky childhood — luckily her parents were wealthy. that was what kept her in the prestigious academy that she began attending around age five. her father had pulled some schools that granted her access to such a school that was only really infamous to the “right” people. an academy that played a big part in the woman that miss kim became. though that’s a later part in her story, but undoubtedly the climax of her life so far.
born in busan, south korea, her father was a part in one of the most powerful korean mafias at the time, and her mother a simple waitress. being quite beautiful, her mother received an copious amount of tips that could’ve easily solely provided for the girls upbringing — it only added to the luxury that lorelei was presented with at birth when her father rose to one of the highest reachable points in the south korean mafia that you could reach, not to mention his numerous investments in both stock and properties across the globe raked in simply more money.
after a year or two after her daughters birth, her parents fled to the united states.. new york specifically. lorelei’s father couldn’t bare to be a part of something as dangerous as a mafia whilst raising a little girl. he sold a number of his investments and bought a nice penthouse in the upper east side. the next three years of the kim’s life were quite mellow.
upon reaching age five, lorelei began expressing interest in the arts. her parents naturally bent to the overpowering will of a spoiled little girl and enrolled her into a dance academy. this academy somehow took more time than actual school ( which she did at home with personal tutors ).
after a few more years of physical conditioning, a decade specifically, a flyer for auditions to be in a south korean girl group were posted on light poles around koreatown. naturally lorelei took the opportunity and begged her father to fly her out to south korea so that she could audition, with great reluctance and fear for her safety he allowed her to.. though a body guard had to accompany at her in all times.
finally, lorelei took the first step at becoming a star! the girl quickly boarded a plane and arrived in seoul where the auditions took place. as anyone who spent years training in the arts should, she made the final cut and was admitted into a company where she became an official trainee. after training inside of the actual company, polishing her vocals and stage presence, lorelei debuted in a girl group called “code red”.
the group instantly took to the charts, and did amazing. after a few comebacks they were onto a world tour. they’d be hitting big entertainment epicenters, starting off with busan. her company insisted on this so that they could keep domestic fans appeased. it all happened in the blink of an eye, the next day around the same time her stylists were preparing her for the concert. the turnout was amazing!
the nine girls who were a part of code red, made their ways into the stage, and the performance began. their moves and vocals were clean, and lorelei’s killing part quickly approached. the girl took center and muttered the initial words of the chorus, and upon the beat dropping there was a large crack. a bullet rocketed towards the girl.. though by the skin of her teeth it missed, crashing into the illuminated backdrop the girls had. lights flickered and the entire stage began going haywire. a group of men rushed forward from behind the stage in an attempt to wrangle all of the distraught idols and get them out of harms way. as lorelei was being pulled off stage the man pulling her was met with a burning sensation on his hands where he was touching her, so naturally he allowed the girl to remain untouched.
atramentous smoke began pouring out of her lips, from there it cascaded out of her mouth and rolled off of stage into the audience. the scent of swamp water stung the noses of anyone near her, and the smoke that was steadily rolling forwards began growing more and more sludge like. a scream escaped her lips, which only caused smoke to shoot outwards in a stream. a figure as dark as night began rippling around lorelei, almost as though it was trying to rip from her body but failing. small sporadic pieces of her flesh lifted upwards and began glowing a neon green.. they lifted from her flesh like small embers from a flame.
her ear splitting scream stopped, and lorelei vanished in the the black smoke that she was spewing out of her mouth. the smoke rolled forwards at insane speeds, sending the girl to the hotel window that her attempted assailant was perched in. he attempted to fight her off but before he knew it he began inhaling the black smoke that clung to her her body like perfume. the plants around her began withering, displaying an entire life cycle before the man as he himself was withering was will. his lungs shrunk, and he barely could inhale. soon enough he was left shriveled and on the floor.
lorelei stepped forwards towards the door, fixing her barrette one final time as she passed a mirror. as her eyes met the mirror she saw the face of a rotting hag flash over her own beautiful one, but it didn’t bother her too much. a scratchy voice echoed in her ear, “there is death in every life.”
from there lorelei made her way back to new york. the girl still had a large sum of money that set her well off, even then she could still ask money from her parents. she planned on living under the radar. luckily the cameras recording her were cut as soon as the bullet collided with the backdrop so there was nothing but vocal accounts, which would’ve meant nothing once lorelei paid the right people to make the story go away.
